Nina FoxxNina Foxx

September 2008

In 1999, Nina Foxx threw caution to the wind and quit her lucrative job as an industrial psychologist to finish her first book. Without the patience to wait for a deal Nina self-published her first novel and was soon picked up by her current agent for her second book. Eight years later, Nina is the best-selling author of five novels, and is currently working on the film adaptation of one of her books.

What do you want to be known for in this industry?
Nina:
I'd like to be known for doing my best at whatever it is I try, and crossing over into other areas of the entertainment industry, such as producing or directing films or stage plays.

If you weren't a writer what would you be?
Nina:
In addition to being an industrial psychologist (which I am), I’m sure I'd be doing something else in the entertainment industry.

When did you first start writing?
Nina:
I've always kept a diary, but I think my earliest memory of writing something forother people was a story called “The Last Christmas” I can't remember if I was in middle school or if it was earlier than that. I may have been in fifth grade.

Where do you get the inspiration for your stories?
Nina:
From people. I've always been a people watcher and admirer. It's amazing what you see if you just look, or hear if you just listen.

What does your ideal writing space look like?
Nina:
A beautiful setting helps. Water is good too. Ocean and lakes. They all work for me. But really I just need a laptop and a desk or a Starbucks in lieu of a desk.

What are three adjectives you could use to describe your writing style?
Nina:
Visual. Fast paced. Fun.

What is one thing authors should do to ensure their success?
Nina:
Read!

I remember you when you first came out. You had it then and you still have it now. Good to see you out here still making it work.
