Brashaad E. Mayweather, born a military child in Houston, Texas, spent much of his childhood moving from place to place. "At the age of five or six," he recalls in his debut book, Control or Be Controlled, "I remember having my birthday party with my dad and grandparents, and I remember I opened one particular gift that would change my life forever. It was a Dallas Cowboys football helmet, shoulder pads, jersey and pants fitted just for me. I put on my first ever football equipment and took off running until someone could catch me. From that day forward, I knew that I loved football and wanted to be a professional football player."

Striving to become a professional football player wasn't so easy for Mayweather. He faced many obstacles along the way, one setback after another. "You can not have one man control your destiny," his mother, Vanessa, told him. "It's either take control or be controlled."

After taking control of his football career, Mayweather wanted the same for other would-be football players. To spare them the hurdles he had to jump over, Control or Be Controlled was formed.

In Control or Be Controlled, Mayweather advises his readers about the ins and outs of football, such as finding the right high school, college, agent, and the political affairs. All of the information in Control or Be Controlled was collected from interviews with agents, NFL scouts, coaches, and players, CFL scouts and players, AFL coaches and players, and last but not least, Mayweathers' own experiences.

What did you like best about this book?
The invaluable information in this book will be advantageous to anyone pursuing a career in football. I also like the front and back cover of the book. Nice!

What did you dislike about this book?
This book is poorly written. Could it be possible that a fifth grader wrote it? Things that make you go umm, as Arsenio Hall used to say.

How can the author improve this book?
Hire an editor to bring some sort of structure to this book.
