Who's Your Favorite Author's
Favorite Authors?

TREASURE E. BLUE

Treasure E. Blue is the author of Harlem Girl Lost, A Street Girl Named Desire, Keyshia and Clyde. Treasure also contributed to Flexin' & Sexin' Volume 2.

George Orwell George Orwell
George Orwell was a prolific English novelist that was a champion for social injustice and awareness. His passion for words mesmerized me in such a way that I patterned my writing style after him every since I was in college. He is truly the reason why I fell in love with writing in the first place. He moves you with his words in such a way that you are actually romancing the words as you read. He was the epitome of a great storyteller and essayist that has stuck with me throughout my lifetime.
Jamed Baldwin James Baldwin
James Baldwin is perhaps the greatest author of all-time. Not only was he a great writer, but he dealt with racial and sexual issues that were never touched upon during his time. His writing was very complex. You couldn't just read his work. It had to be studied and mulled over to get the full volume of it. Go Tell It On The Mountain and Giovanni's Room were groundbreaking for a poor black boy from Harlem. You had to wonder what would have happened to him had it not been for writing.
Virginia Woolf Virginia Woolf
I read her first novel, The Voyage Out when I was in college, it was then that I fell instantly in love with her writing. I was hooked in such a way that I tried to read everything by her. For a woman to have been so bold (and criticized) for her writing back then, she had to be strong. Her writing had intense lyricism, a stylistic prose and great visual impression.
John Grisham John Grisham
John Grisham is perhaps my most favorite contemporary author to date. When I say I read all his novels, I mean just that. When he tells his story, he puts you right there as if you can see and feel the characters. He is probably the best storyteller in the business. He just doesn't tell a story, he makes you feel the story.
Donald Goines Donald Goines
Donald Goines hands down is the most groundbreaking author of all-time. He single-handedly took me from a non-reader to a bonafied reader with one novel. His writing set him apart from all the rest as he gave you a true and chilling account of the minds of thieves, pimps, pushers and dopefiends, which is something I saw growing up in my neighborhood everyday. Contrary to popular belief, he never glorified this world, but gave you an actual account of what would happen if you wanted to play and that you surely would pay in the end.
